Nukkuma

Nukkuma is a space managed by three organisations: Digit, Nucleus and Asteriski. It’s located at the bottom floor of Q-talo in the student village. Any member of any of these organisations can make a reservation for the space to host anything from a homework club to a movie night to a birthday party for completely free.

If you would like to make a reservation contact any member of Digit’s board on the topic and act per their instructions. Before making a reservation make sure you read the rules for reserving and using the space.

The Rules

Renting

  • Cost for renting Nukkuma is €0 for members of Digit ry, Nucleus ry and Asteriski ry.
  • Members can rent Nukkuma by contacting their corresponding organisation board and signing a lease. These leases can be found at the guild room.
  • The lease is primarily from 16:00 to 12:00 during the weekdays and is always negotiated on during weekends. The lease duration is always up to negotiation, however.
  • Handover and returnal of the keys is always agreed on before signing the lease.
  • All reservations and leases must be finalised at least three (3) days before the rental start and reservations can be made no earlier than four (4) weeks before the rental start.
  • The use case must be sensible (for example Nukkuma is not rented for hosting after parties after nightclubs close in the morning).

Usage

  • Members are free to participate in events at Nukkuma in case of a general or open door event without further notice, unless the event requires pre-registration.
  • In any other events the person leasing Nukkuma (the signer of the lease) is responsible for anyone attending the event hosted at Nukkuma during the whole reservation period.
  • All guests are to remove their shoes before entering Nukkuma. There is room reserved for shoes in the hallway.

Cleaning

  • After using Nukkuma to host an event, the space is to be cleaned and left in at least the same condition as it was before the leasing.
  • In addition to Nukkuma itself, this includes the hallways, kitchen (if used) and toilets.
  • All necessary cleaning supplies are found either in Nukkuma or in the cleaning closet behind the first door to your right after going through the metal fireproof door.
  • The signer is to take care of the proper recycling of all trash and cans, bottles, etc.
  • If the space(s) is and/or are left in an unsatisfactory condition, a cleaning fee (minimum of 20€) is demanded from the signer. Future access to Nukkuma can also be denied in case of repeating or serious cases of misuse and mistreatment.

Furniture

  • No furniture, property or product that were in the space(s) before are to be removed or damaged.
  • All furniture, property and products are to be moved and handled carefully and in a fitting manner.
  • All damaged and missing furniture, property and products are restituted from the signer. The signer is responsible for all things aforementioned and the possible expenses during the leasing period.

Other

  • The building has several other spaces and their users. Nukkuma’s guests are not to bother or trouble any other users.
  • Nukkuma’s lease covers only the use of Nukkuma, hallways, kitchen and toilets. The staircase, the upper floor and any other rooms (even if their doors are open) are out of bounds unless explicitly invited into. Opening the doors on top of the staircase will launch an alarm and in case of an alarm the signer of the lease is demanded of the false alarm security guard bill.

Did you know? The name ‘Nukkuma’ is a play on the word ‘nukkua’, ‘to sleep’ and the inflection ending -ma which refers to a place of activity. To announce that one is going to Nukkuma, ‘mennä Nukkumaan’, sounds like they claim they are going to bed.
