Main Celebration Dance Rehearsals

The 25th Iteration's main celebration will culminate in dancing at the venue. Even if you're not familiar with formal dances, don't worry, as dance rehearsals will be held on Tuesday 15.10. from 17:30-19:00 in Turku Hall (Rehtorinpellonkatu 4 A, 2nd floor).

Bring your dancing shoes (the ones you'll wear to the celebration) and come to practice twirling to the music, with or without a partner. The rehearsal will cover the basic steps of the following dances: Cicapo, waltz, spinning waltz, Pas d’Espagne, and tango. A professional instructor, organized by the Iteration team, will guide you through these dances.

Main Celebration Day

The main celebration day begins with a cocktail reception at the Main Building of the University of Turku (20014, University of Turku). The cocktail reception starts at 15:00. If you are giving a greeting, please arrive well in advance. You can view the greeting schedule here. You can also find the guild’s gift wish list here. Group transport from the cocktail reception to the main celebration will depart at 16:45 and 17:15.

The main celebration at Radisson Blu Marina Palace (Linnankatu 32, Turku) begins at 18:00. Please arrive at the venue 30-60 minutes before the start to ensure the event begins on time. Note that it will take a while to check in all 250 guests. The main venue is a licensed area, so we recommend bringing a bank card or cash. Traditional dances will be held after the event around 23:30, followed by a secret afterparty. The afterparty venue is also a licensed area.

The dress code for the 25th Iteration is formal attire with academic decorations. This means a tailcoat, dark suit (note: not a business suit), or a long evening gown. You can read more about the general dress code for the anniversary here.

Harassment Contact Persons for the Main Celebration

The harassment contact persons for the main celebration are the staff of Radisson Blu Marina Palace. They will introduce themselves at the start of the event.

Sillis

This year’s Sillis theme is “rave cave,” and themed attire is highly encouraged. There will be organized group transport to the Sillis in two waves, at 12:00 and 13:00. Return transport to Turku is available at 18:00 and 20:00. Transport will depart from and return to Vesilinnantie 5, 20014 University of Turku. The journey to the Sillis takes some time, so it’s best not to hop on the bus starving. In such a case, consider bringing a small snack for the ride.

At the Sillis, there will be an opportunity to enjoy a hot tub and sauna. Swimwear is mandatory in both, so please bring your swimsuit and a towel if you wish to take a dip. Also, bring bar-appropriate clothing (no overalls), as we will continue to the official unofficial afterparty after the Sillis.

If you’ve ordered a drink package for the Sillis, you’ll receive it upon arrival at the venue.

There will be NO separate drink sales at the Sillis, and the drink package cannot be purchased on-site. If you haven’t ordered a drink package and want to drink something other than the soft drinks provided, bring your own beverages as needed. The nearest store to the Sillis is several kilometers away.

The Sillis venue is accessible, but access requires climbing a steep hill. The sauna facilities are not accessible. The Sillis venue features flashing lights and loud noises.

Harassment Contact Persons for the Sillis

The harassment contact persons at the Sillis are Siiri Viljanen (until approximately 15:00) and Riina Mätäsniemi (all day).
